How much tq will stock hold?
I am wondering how much tq and hp the factory tanny, transfer case, and front and rear diffs will hold before blowing up.
I'm still thinking about doing a swap to an aluminum chevy 5.3 and I can run the rest of the stock drive train behind it but I don't know if it'd hold that kind of power for a long time. If not I am probably going to run an NV3500 and chevy tansfer case behind it. I know the stock 8" is tough but I was also thinking about swapping in a Tundra TRD rear axel w/ locker. I'd probably have to shorten it but I'd also get disc brakes.
Like I said I was wondering what the factory pieces are rated at or what they'll take before turning into a bunch up little metal pieces.

You're going to have a hard time finding raw numbers in terms of horsepower/torque ratings since it's so subjective and dependent on so many factors.
Good info here: http://www.gadgetonline.com/4Run.htm
Overall, you're looking at a very hearty drivetrain. I would guess your weakest link is going to be in the transmission/planetary gears, although there's a myriad of items that could flaw.

I think he's got a manual tranny. My guess is the weak links will be the CVs. Remember too just because you have lots of torque doesn't mean you have to use it, especially on the trail, go easy on the skinny pedal.

Awesome. Well New Venture rates the NV3500 for 320 ft/lb of tq. I know it will hold more but I was curious if anyone knew the Toyota rating for my various components. I just don't want to do this engine swap and have to replace a tranny in a few months. Just to do it all at once. I was also thinking if I use something that was a Chevy motor and tranny I wouldn't have to mess with a weird flywheel/clutch combo and like that. I know I would have to change the ends on the axels since I am sure they don't have the same splines and sizes.

Well I was going to do an 1UZ swap but I don't feel like paying 1500 for the belhousing to keep my 5-speed. I can do the whole 5.3 swap for less than that and make more power for cheaper. Plus I've read a few things about people not getting their 1UZ to run right. You can but a whole stand alone wiring harness for doing an LS-series swap.
And my friends 06 TRD Tundra has a locker.

Btw, please don't take my post as anything more than a fictious rant. I have no real clue what a Toyota Tcase will hold, and as far as I know Toyota doesn't either
