what do you mean by downshifting? Putting to a low gear instead of drive or D

That or drop it out of overdrive with that little button on the side of the shifter, of coarse being an automatic the tranny will do that for you if you want to wait for it to happen. But if you want the overdrive gear (4th gear)to climb better regearing the differentals or going to smaller tires is the best option. What size tires do you have?

cccp don't let all these jokesters get to you. These guys with their new 3.4L SC'ed engines don't understand the true problem we poor saps with 3.slows and 4 speed auto trannys have when trying to climb hills at highway speeds.

It is bad enough having only 4 speeds, but it really sucks your OD gear is so high you can't even use it. I don't know what Toyota engineers were thinking when they geared our auto tranny to go 120 mph but then only put an engine in it strong enough to pull 75 without a tail-wind. It's the GEARING that is the problem with these 3.0/auto transmission trucks.
