How do you set up a web cam for a SAS?
#3
1.) Buy any decent cam $50-70
2.) Plug it in
3.) Install software (most include a feature of time lapse photography)
4.) Aim cam, try to have consistent lighting throughout the project
5.) Estimate how long the project will take, estimate how long you want the video to be
6.) Do some calculations and figure out how often you want the shutter to 'click'
7.) Click 'record' and start working
8.) Click stop when done for the day
9.) Go to step 7 if there is more work to be done
10.) Chronologically concatenate each frame sequence to a single film
How's that?

Here is an inexpensive program that should do everything you need to do. http://www.tincam.com/

How do you get the images up to a webpage
a.) You can save the frame sequence as a movie file (You'd want this if the file is long: 2+ mins, file size will be relatively small) Folks will just download and watch the file.
b.) You can save the frame sequence as an animated GIF file (But the image size would be quite high) Here you can embed the image right into a webpage just like any other image.

SAS...oh yeah
it's gonna be cool. i'll be there. just watch the webcam.
not sure how you're gonna set it up steve, but if it's like the one WATRD setup, that'll be great.

I recommend this piece of software; http://www.coffeecup.com/webcam/
It will allow you to either stream like Shane did or put up captures like I did, depending upon your bandwidth. It also comes with pretty much all the instructions you need to get a website hosting your event up and running
On a related note, I have taken the 2,200 or so images from my SAS and squeezed them into a short movie... I will post it soon.
