How do I take out the rear bench?
I'd like to remove the rear bench seat out of my 85 4runner so I can sleep back there this weekend.
I thought it was going to be easy enough. I removed the 2 big bolts under the back that appeared to hold the hinge plates to the floor but it didn't budge.
I figureed those 2 then the bolts in the front and it would come right out.
Help??!!!

dont you fit sleeping in the truck with the seats just folded down?
If the seats are removed, im pretty sure it will result in an uneven surface in the back of your truck....
unless im missing something

All Yota seats fold flat. If the seats don't fold flat they aren't factory seats. A LOT of 84s and some 85s came over empty and an interior (locally designed and manufactured) was put in at the port.

It's 1 piece bench, vinyl.
The back folds down, then it all tumbles forward,m hinged at the front of the bottom cushion. THAT's the hinge I ned to investigate further.
When the back is folded forward, it si NOT flat by any means. If I can pull the seat out, the "dip" for the foot well will be fine, I'll just sleep with my feet at that end (on my air matress).
My truck is no-carpet, no nothing base model, so it's certainly possible that it's a dealer installed seat. Sure is beefy though and looks factory to me.

The way the stock ones fold is the seat cushions fold forward, then the back folds down (also forward) and the whole load floor is flat. Mostly.
I've seen some with a retrofit jeep seat (or something similar) that does the fold and roll thing - doesn't get out of the way much and sure isn't flat. Sorry, can't tell you how they are installed, but it's hard to imagine you can't find the bolts.
