Anybody really against the daystar spacer route for the lift? I know it isn't the best way, but I am a poor college student. I just wanna know if it will work, will they hold up through time? And I'm ok with a bit stiffer ride, it would be worth it.
Can't beat the price.
I need some veteran advice.

See, I already have the taller 99' springs, and I would rather not get ride of them for a slightly bigger, more expensive spring, when I could just add a spacer for cheaper and be done with it. p.s.- I'm tired of waiting

 

They are fine. The only thing is the rear will sway a bit at highways speeds becuase the rear is higher and you have stock rear coils.

A better solution would be the Daystar front spacers and a set of FZJ-80 front coils in the rear with stock FZJ-80 rear shocks.

You'll need to collect over time the fixes we make but as long as you don't wheel it hard until you have all the adjustment parts, it will drive fine on the street.

Front spacers: $95.00
Rear Coils: $120.00
Rear Shocks: $60.00

Your going to need the drop bar, bump stops and sway bar brackets to adjust for the longer shocks when you wheel it, but on the street you'll be fine with these parts, if you wheel it without the adjustments, you will damage parts.

 

thanks steve. and I have read your site on the drop bar, and I am assuming it is totally necessary? No if ands or buts about it, you need it to ride perfectly? And my rear end is pretty heavy, already sagging a bit due to my homemade 150 pound drawer, so maybe that would keep the rear down enough to lessen rear height and sway.

 

If your rear is heavy, that's just that much more reason to use the FZJ-80 coils.

You do need all those parts to correct the lift, but you can collect them over time, just go easy off road until you have them all.

 

ditto on what steve is telling you. you can use a spacer up front for now as a "temporary fix" and some cruiser coils in the rear... you can get the cruiser coils for about $40-$50 used - about as cheap as you can get and still a decent lift.

 

Ok, thanks for everything, one more question. because I have the 99 4runner coils, is 2 1/2 daystar fronts gonna be too much for the cv's? i only have a brushgaurd on now, but plan to get a steelie in the future when money comes around.

 

With the brush guard, you'll be fine.

 

Do all the landcruiser front coils do the same amount of lift for the back of our 4runners, or is it only the orange, orange, white and double purple, gray, white that works??

 

only certain ones. some are MUCH taller and will give 4.5+ inches of lift on a 4runner.

you want the shortest ones that were made - about 19-19.5" of overall height. you can get them easier new than used, but you can find used ones if you're patient.
