hood scoop mod

hood scoop mod
I just completed a conversion job to make my hood scoop functional. I am curious if anyone has any suggestions as to getting the air to the air box. I have seen a 4runner with piping from the scoop to the box, but I am thinking of just letting the air come in and cool the entire engine compartment. Any Ideas?
thanks

I think someone said that not enough air comes in that way to make a diff, and rain also might be a factor.
The deckplate mod coupled with an Amsoil air filter would be what I'd do if I had a 3rd gen.
Maybe try contacting Joe and see if his thoughts on it.

His scoop pics are under the pics section.
I have a feeling though his site will shutdown with all the hits it's about to get.
Geocities is famous for that unless you have their premium account and ante up some $$$.

The Sunbeam Tiger used an open hood scoop to provide extra cooling to the Ford 289 that was prone to overheating in the small engine bay.
I imagine it would have a similar effect for the 4Runner and as I understand it a cooler engine is more efficient.
