hood latch

K so ive got a problem with my hood latch on my 1995 4runner. I went to pull it a few days ago and it wont open. Ive tryed everything i can think of. im thinking the cable came off so is there anyway that you guys can think to open it. If anyone knows please help me out

i dont think that i can access the mechanism, i mean i can see the top but not the lock part of the latch. if anyone has any ideas please let me know

You could try sticking a pair of 90* angled needle nose pliers in through and up to the hood latch cable in hopes of getting a grip on it but I really could'nt say as it is a good security design..., TOYOTA!

i had the same problem... my hood latch wire was stretched, so that the opening mechanism under the dash wouldnt open the hood.
I simply unhooked the wire from the latch opener, and yanked on the wire directly with my hands, and just like that the hood opened.

I've encountered this one. I basically unbolted the hood latch. there are three bolts. you may have to cut some of the grill plastic but it will be in a place where no one will see. It takes a bit, but you won't break anything.
I found this happened on mine b/c there was some slack in the cable and it wouldn't pull the latch correctly. So i took off the latch and got a fiberglass hood.
