Saw this set of horns at the local Pilot truck stop and decided I had to have them. They probably won't end up on the roof as pictured, but I thought they looked pretty darn cool up there! C'mon, I dare you to cut in front of me! Nah, they'll probably end up on my F250.

(b) Horn and warning device requirements. A vehicle specified under this subchapter shall have a horn or other warning device which is audible under normal conditions at a distance of not less than 200 feet. No vehicle shall be equipped with a siren, bell, whistle or similar device emitting an unreasonably loud or harsh sound except emergency vehicles and vehicles equipped with an anti-theft device.
As far as I know most states' codes are similar, and it seems if you have an alarm you not limited at how obscene it is. I did research before doing a dual compressor/horn setup

BTW, they're not actually mounted up there, I just set them up there to see what it would look like. THey are way too big to stay up there permanently!

I'll bet they will really help the aerodynamic profile.

LOL I love them, how much were they? I've got the on-board air to run them too. Really I'm thinking about some kind of air horns, maybe mounted out of sight though. When my truck was under warranty the horn went out and the dealer replaced it with a little Tercel horn, it sounds like a little lamb. People laugh when I honk it

They still have several of them for $129.99 at the Pilot truck stop in Laramie, WY. That's the cheapest I've ever seen a set of train horns, and I've been looking for some for a long time. There is no indication of a brand name or anything, not even on the box so I have no idea who makes them.

Yeah Mark, that's about where I was thinking of putting some. Did you disconnect the stock horns? Do you still honk them with the factory switch in the steering wheel? If so how did you wire that? Does the system leak air much? I was thinking of using my CO2 tank for them, but I'd hate to find they leaked over night and drained my tank dry. I could set-up a separate tank just for them and close off the CO2 tank except for refilling the horn tank. How many seconds of blasting do you get before your compressor kicks in with that 2 liter tank? Well thanks Mark, you said if I have any questions to ask.

Its an old thread, but worth bringing back. I have all the same Qs as MT goat. Would using a CO2 tank be easier because you dont have to have a compressor? Would it be crazy to just get a CO2 tank solely for the horn?

Well this is what I ended up doing:

They are plenty loud enough and I wired the relay to be activated by the factory horn button.
