HILUX badges from Australia

When I was in Australia, I noticed that they have some way cool rigs there. I was in awe at the Toyota dealership in Bunbury. I went by the parts desk and picked up a pair of HILUX badges for about $93 dollars (Australian dollars). I would have liked to pick up a 79 series Landcruiser pickup that they had brand spanking new on the lot for $19,500 Australian dollars but oh well. I had to settle for the badges.

whoa, that LC truck is $14,816 in US money. wish we had affordable 4x4s in this country still...everything has to be "luxury" and it's all about the image so if we had the same rig for sale here, i wouldn't doubt that it would cost twice as much as it does there(even 3 or 4 times seeing as it has the "land cruiser" badge).

kind of the same thing as a land rover. in other countries they're affordable transportation, in the US it's an image thing so they cost so much only the rich can afford them

um, no, it's the US homologation (emmisions requirements) and import tariffs that add all the $$$$ to imports in the US. (The interiors are the same in other countries, they aren't more luxurious in the US.)

Technically, I think the "HILUX" badge should go under/ or just forward of the mirrors (on the doors, and not the fenders.)

PS- I had my brother-n-law pick up the same badge (aka "marker" or "plate") from a Toyota dealership in the island of Aruba. I think he said that he paid like $12.00 for it..

Edit: Hey, seafarinman, what's the part number on those emblems?

M-T minds-R-curious..

I actually saw all the Hilux trucks in Australia that were 3rd gens wearing the badges on the front fenders so that is why I installed them there. As far as the part number, I will look at the invoice from the dealership and post it when I get home tomorrow. I have duty today so I am not going anywhere today.

Mine look like the one on that pic above, but they aren't attached. They came as two words, HILUX and SURF. I kept the Hilux part and sold the SURF emblems on Ebay, fwiw..

Edit:

The part number for the HILUX emblem that I got from the island of Aruba (in the Caribbean) is >> 75351-89125.

The part number for the HILUX/SURF emblems (they came as a set) that I bought from someone in Okinawa is >> 75445-35070. These ran about $23 for the set (plus shipping.)
