Hey all,
I thought of a good place to mount a hi lift jack...
I am planning on seeing a possible way to mount my jack where my rear window wind deflector is. 2nd gens...
Has anyone ever tried this yet?

Uh, better not. That much weight being subjected to bouncing. Its gonna rip out and hurt somebody, plus damage your 4x4.

Not trying to be mean, but they weight a ton. Try a safari rack with the jack mounts, that would be cool.

I've see some cool setups:

* mount it on the sliders. The base and the lock mechanism was stored in the box in the trunk (and stays clean too).
* mount it to their front bumper or rear bumper both aftermarket.
* mount it to the roof rack (either using a basket or some kind of attachments)
* in back

The easiest thing to do is put in in back with the base on the cargo floor, use rope and two tie dows for that. then remove a backseat headrest, lay the climber bar on the back of the back seat and replace the headrest with one of the poles going through a hole in the jacks climber bar. This is eash, cheap and safe.

I'd hide it in the cargo area... saves the price of mounts, locks, etc. Plus, much easier access than a roof mount... Well, depending on the height of your rig to your height ratio...

 

i've probably posted this before, but here's another low cost option with zero bling factor.

i have been dis-assembling mine into 3 parts - i soak the hell out of the walking mechanism with wd-40, wrap it in a towel, and stow it in my milk crate recovery box. i stow the walking bar flat against the front of my truck bed (anywhere will do, pref out of sight). then i stow the lever bar in an easy to reach location behind the drivers seat. it doubles as an ugly stick if i should ever need one. as you know, the jack goes back together in about 15 seconds if youre not in a rush.
