Help! Sway Away

Hi,

Just ordered an ARB bumper and some Sway Away 25mm torsion bars but ouch! I cancelled the torsion bars after the guy told me the price. He wanted $440 Canadian for them. I phoned around and there must have been a price jump because everywhere they were the same. Just last month these places were quoting me $240. Anyways, I have the part # but where's the best place to order them from in the States. I hope the price is still around $100 US there.

Thanks,

Warren

Scanner to the rescue

Someone is trying to rip you off.
They have gone up, $9.
I paid $99 for mine back in February or March.
Now they are $108.95.

Ahhhh, I see Perf has them up on their site now too.

If you live close to the border, see if you can get someone in the US to order them, then cross the border to pick them up from them.
I'm not sure how much you have to pay extra to get them into Canada with that GSMT tax or whatever you guy's & gal's get hit with.

Rip-off

Thanks for coming through Corey. I forgot about Perf.!

I get a discount I think too! Like I said, I phoned around and the price had jumped everywhere! It may just be the Canadian Distributor who's doing the ripping off.

It's not too handy for me to get across the border as I'm on Vancouver Island and the GST is 7% so I can deal with that.

Thanks again, I'll be ordering them now.

That is your front springs on '86 to '95 IFS 4Runners & trucks.
Basicaly they are two rolled steel rods as seen in the above photos.

The SAW are aftermarket ones.
Stock is 22mm, and the SAW's are 25mm thick.
That is better for when you have weight up front with a winch & aftermarket bumper.

They are held in place on the rig by bolts, and turning the adjusting bolts will raise or lower the rig.
More info on adjusting them can be found on my homie in the mods section on page III.

Yeah Corey is right, someone is trying to take you for all your worth, I paid $99 for mine last October. Haven't checked out prices lately on them, but Corey is more than likely right on them

You might want to check out www.Performanceproducts.com I think I remember seeing them on there for 109.99, I can't remember hehehe old age is already setting in on me (and I'm only 21 )

Doooooode! You're not even close to using old age as an excuse!

Yeah, I've ordered them already. Should I expect prompt service from Performance Products?

Thanks again,

Thanks for explaining that Corey. I saw those "rods" under there when I was changing the oil and was wondering what those were for. Love the site! I sure have learned a lot here.

Well, have fun.

Performance Sway Aways

OK. Like I said, I've ordered my Torsion bars from Perf but they're back-ordered until December 18th.

Any other suggestions on where to get them or; has anyone put an ARB bumper on with the stock Torsion bars and how was the ride?

Thanks,

Warren

I drove around for about two weeks or more with the stock T bars.
It was horrible. Granted I also had 80 lb of winch too.

But coming to a stop would make me porpoise up and down.
After the SAW's were added, it rode way better.

Thanks Corey,

I think I'll be 'doing the porpoise' for a few weeks too!

Take care,
