**HELP** Need some advice
I'm looking to purchase a '93-96 model 4runner for around $6000. Searches on the net and autotrader have shown that models in this price range have 112,000 to 150,000 miles on them. My Question: What should I watch out/look for when purchasing a 4runner with this type of mileage? What are known/common problems with vehicles of this age/mileage? I basically want to know what I'm getting into and what to watch for. ANY advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!
THANKS!!
THANKS!!

generally speaking, a yota with that many miles still has a way to go. there have been many people on the board that have had experiences breaking higher mileage marks than that. as for the years you are looking at...93-95 and a 96 are different generations...the 93-95 is the 2nd generation , it has a 3.0..the 96 is the 3rd generation, it has the 3.4. i know more about the 2nd generation due to my owning of one. all i can think of currently is to run the VIN to see if the headgasket was replaced under the recall. good luck welcome to the board by the way

Run a Carfax report. Like doink said, check with a dealer about the head gasket. I have a '97 with the 3.4 Liter V6. 98,000 miles. Still runs like new. Whether you want a 2nd generation or a 3rd generation is personal preference, but it is nice to have the 3.4 liter. Good luck.

Doink and Fuggrwe...THANKS FOR THE INFO!! It doesn't really matter to me on the generation although it'd be nice to have the larger V6. I'll be sure to check on the head gasket of any 4runner I look at. Thanks again. Look forward to joining the YOTA clan! Nice message board by the way!

If I would have a choice between 2nd and 3rd generation, I would definitely go with 3rd. Stronger engine, better looks and more features come standard...
