Help with installing hellwig sway bars!

Ok, I just tried to install these things and they are garbage. The powdercoating is coming off, wasn't even dry all the way. The instructions SUCK. All B/W pictures and they are so dark you can't see anything. Got about halfway through and just took everything off and put it in the box.

Anyone that install these have any tips or anything? If you could take some nice quality pictures of the finished install it'd really help.

thanks

Are they stock replacements?

If so I would assume it is just, unbolt the stock bar, remove it, put up new bar, bolt it in.

No, they aren't stock replacements... they mount up to the axle and the frame

I installed these on my 02' Dbl Cab about a year ago. The instructions with mine refered to springs on the end links that they no longer use...
The only tricky part is the drivers side pinch bracket, it's real close to the shock and you will not be able to mount it at 90* to the frame.

Once you get it installed you'll like it, it improves the handing greatly.

Yes, the bracket is close to the spare.
That picture isn't of my truck. I posted it because it clearly shows the overall setup and my photos are blurry. The parts are the same. Here's a shot of my truck, drivers side.

Are the drivers side and passengers side brackets facing different directions? The insturctions seem to tell you to do it like that.. they say to make the drivers side facing towards the back but facing forward seemed to fit better

Both brackets face the same direction: toward the front, parallel to the frame.
I circled the part of the bracket facing the front.

Cool.. thanks a lot for the pics.. they help more than any directions.

The instructions pretty clearly say that they'll be facing different directions but it did not make sense at all

on the passenger side.. where do you have the long bolt going? between the exhaust and leaf springs?

Here's what I'd suggest:
Drop the spare so you'll have room to work.

Assemble the whole thing, and start by attaching the U bolts to axle, this will position every thing. (Tighten the nut on the end links just to the point the bushings start to bulge.) Once the U bolts are on, you will see that the pinch brackets are only going to meet the frame in a certain spot. Adjust the bar up or down to move the pinch bracket forward or back so you get maxium bite on the frame.

Yes, the end link on the passenger side goes between the leaf spring and the tail pipe

Hope this makes sense...

You don't want to over tighten these, tighten until the bushing starts to bulge.
The bushings need room to squish with suspension movement.

Maybe they included extra nuts? They're Nylock nuts aren't they?

Just looked, they're not Nylock. Look closely at the picture and you'll see the first nut on the endlink the thinner lockng nut.

You will need to gently bend the brake line on the passenger side of the axel to slip the U bolt on...
