Help: Engine light on
#2
Go to an Autozone or something similar and ask to borrow their OBD-II reader. They should allow you to do that for free and then post back here with the codes you got if you don't find anything by searching those codes.

Ditto - if you can't borrow one, they are actually relatively inexpensive. I don't know if you are actually on Lanai or not, but if you can get to a Checker auto parts, they have them pretty cheap (if you are on Oahu, the Dillingham Checker store generally is always stocked, other stores don't always have everything advertised). You could probably get them cheaper online, but if you need it right away, you gotta do what you gotta do. (when the check light came on, I wanted to know how much trouble I was in and how expensive it was going to be).
All you really need is a cheap Innova (on sale for like $50 or so). It's not fancy, but all you need to do is pull the trouble codes. The instructions book has all the different codes listed, or you can go online and google the code because they are independent of mfr.
Hope this helps,
Merlin
