Get your volt meter and test the alternator output... when it dies it often triggers the brake light too, not real unusual. If your not getting around 14v or more at the battery (engine running), your alternator is toast. If you are getting 14v at the battery (still running), most likely your battery is shot or you have a bad lead to the fuse box, that's doubtful though.

well its such a drain that with the key out of the ignition it takes about 3 hours to drain ..... it also gets around 14 volts at idle and when i rev it it gets about 17 volts so i dunt think its the alt .... also were is the fuse for the radio i hvae a gut feeling its that since ive played with it some

The alternator output should be pretty canstant between 14 and 15 volts max... the alt. has an internal voltage regulator that may be damged. Might be overcharging the battery, is there a rotten egg smell? If you suspect a short somewhere... start digging til' the problem turns up. The radio should have a constant hot and a hot in run connection, might have connected them wrong.

The radio fuse is in the fusebox on the drivers side... right above the kick panel. Should have a white cover on it that says wich fuse is wich.
And no, the speaker wires won't bleed the battery.
