Hella Micro DE Fogs...2 models...
Can anyone tell me what the differance might be between the 2 models of the Hella Micro DE fogs? Besides price, is one a newer "improved" model? Hellas website only list one model....and it's the cheaper priced one. The lens looks clearer on the 2nd one listed below.

I can't tell you the difference, but this link might save you some cash:

$154 for both fogs, plus all the mounting hardware if you need it.

pfdaxe,
I am not sure what the difference is between the two models. I think the first one is more a universal and the second one is model specific for our 4Runners. I also have a 2000 4Runner but since mine is a limited, it comes with factory fog lamps from the factory and was interested in replacing the stock fog assembly with this model: HL74560 (This model is model specific and since I have the stock wiring, it would probably be just plug and play). However, I really never got an answer to that question. The second link from amazon is the same company as this:

And the model number is HL74560. Hope this helps.

Both the ones on Amazon are universal which I would need. I'm just replacing the OEM ones so I can do an HID mod. You can't fit an HID bulb in the OEM fogs. The 4Runner specific one would be good if I didn't have any installed and the higher price is for the mounting hardware that I wouldn't need. Thanks for the link!

The OEM are not long enough to fit an HID bulb. The housing is too short. The HID model of the Micro is around $500. I'm buying the halogen model as described in the above links and adding an HID system. Works out cheaper.

So if I buy these right here, the HID will fit in them?

You will probably have to remove the bulb holders but these are longer and can fit an HID H3 bulb.

Which ones are you going to get? I like these better, the lens looks a lot clearer. http://www.amazon.com/Hella-Micro-Ha...m_auto_title_1

I'm sure I'll be ordering in the next few days. Not sure which one yet though. I'll either get a 4300k or 5000k HID kit for it. The 4300k would be a bit brighter, but would have more yellow tint than the 5000k. Since these are fogs, the beam pattern is low and wide so won't blind or effect oncoming drivers. They also have a shield similiar to HID projectors to give a nice clean cut-off. Should look good and be beneficial with my retro HID projectors when I get them installed.

Not too much to write about. Your remove the halogen H3 and bulb holder and install the HID bulb. Here's some pics:
