Exclamation Headgasket Recall!

So here's the deal!

I have a 97 4runner and I've been curious if I was eligable(sp) for a new headgasket.

So, I emailed toyota and they said YES, I should have it done ASAP.

I called around to THREE dealers to schedule a repair, and all of which, after checking my VIN, gave me a flat out "NO YOUR CAR DOESNT NEED IT".

I again emailed Toyota and informed them of my situation. Needless to say, they were very apologetic. They called the Customer Relations Manager at my local dealer, and my car is getting fixed next week!

SOOOO, if any of you are curious, EMAIL TOYOTA, and DO NOT ASK A DEALER!

Typical dealership attitude. Not surprised.

Fortunately Toyota corporate came thru. Most car mfg. have the same attitude as their "stealerships".

What email address did you use to write to Toyota? I have an '03 SPort and have that annoying popping in the driver's seat. Dealer says they can't reproduce it! But as soon as I sit in it , the pop happens.

Also the dealership claims that since I do 500 miles a week I should come in for an oil change every 3500 miles instaed of 5000 like the manual recommends.

I've tried several sites that list recalls. None of them actually help!

This link should get you to Toyota:
http://toyota.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/t...duser/ask.php?

Give them your VIN and check for any outstanding Campaigns or Recalls. I'm sure that if you complain to them about your seat and the poor dealer service, YOU will recieve a new seat within a week. Make sure to include your telephone so that the dealer's Customer Relations Manager can contact you.

I'm not sure exactly which vehicles are covered under this campaign, but it has been a long-ongoing process. MANY vehicles have been affected.

Best of luck!

About your oil: you can be anal like me and have your oil changed every 3000 miles like clockwork, and give your engine that extra treat of clean oil.

I remember the guy at a BMW dealer said I should only change the oil every 11k miles. NO THANKS!
