Fuel consumption at maximum power is 0.278 lbs/HP/hour (BSFC). Fuel consumption at maximum economy is 0.260 lbs per HP per hour.

I think it gets better gas milage than the 3.0l engine!

Talking

I think that would be a fairly easy swap for the 3.0 engine. I know I could use the extra horsepower and the fuel efficiency wouldn't hurt either. I wonder if they have a supercharger for it.

THAT'S NUTS

Couple questions...
Don't they normally turbo diesel engines?
Would Dr. Z's ISR removal work for it?

Seriously, what practical applications does that project have? I wonder how much it cost, too...

Yeap, that's exactly the missing piece in my new 4Runner. Wonder if they make TRD Supercharger kit for it though...

3' 2" Bore?
8' 2" Stroke?
100,000 HP?
1,660 gallons per hour?

Let's hear it for conservation of the worlds fossil fuels. :pat:

PSSST... I still want one.

I was bored and calculated that each cylinder burns approx 1.45 cubic cm of fuel on each stroke That seems so small for a cylinder head 3 feet across.

There's also more info in this document. http://www.ccdott.org/Deliverables/2...ask2.9.1_2.pdf
It states that they could build a 18 cylinder engine capable of putting out 100,000kW In comparison, the one in the above link "only" puts out around 66844kW
