gutted my interior

so i gutted my interior today, tore all the carpet out and took all the seats out. i did it 1. cuz the carpet smelled and was stained and moldy. 2. cuz i was bored. 3. cuz i didnt want carpet, i want something like a bed liner or something of the sort.

i cant aford herculiner right now so i was thinking the rubberized undercoating. ive used it before and it feels like it would hold up to people jumping in the 4runner. what do u guys think?

Cool deal! I have been thinking of doing the same. But not do ditch anything. I am actually thinking of dying my carpet after thoroughly cleaning it (darker blue). then doing some color changing to my seats and doing a custom paint job on all panels.

That is a freakin kicka$$ idea! My bro has a '94 Jeep Wrangler (yes i know, he owns a Runner too) and its got Line-X'd floor panels and doors and everything...its INSANE!

I wonder how much it would cost to do all of that...man, ANOTHER thing to add to my list...crap

Now I need to buy another car so I can have something to drive while I'm doing all of this work on my Runner...and then I'll need a bigger garage so all the cars can fit in there, and then I'll need to buy a storage building to hold all the crap I had in the garage.....yada yada yada.

I'm not sure that rubberized undercoating ever really gets "hard".

You can get bedliner in a rattlecan and do it yourself. I painted my Smittybilt junk a couple of years back - turned out good.

I only did 2-3 coats on my Smitty stuff and it had plenty of texture. Hard to tell how well it's holding up with the rust and all...

i would say use the good stuff, eitehr herc or the like... however if cost is a major concern look into the duplicolor brand bed coating material.... the rubberized undercoating that i have jsut plain sucks.... i have to repsray my inner fenders all the time, maybe once a month.... there is no way that will be durable enough for the inside....
