Grounding Kit

Just bought 20 ft of 4awg power cable and 25 ring connectors. To make my own grounding wires. Heres some dyno pages after grounding kit installed.

Its not that great. Im re-doing mine using Battery ground straps from Napa. Thier thick flat braided line. They work better than thoes power wire gruond kits. PLus if you gonna do it that way use welding wire

I upgraded to a 4g ground when I installed my system and it seemed to make the amp run cooler. I added another set of 3 8g grounds to difernt placess on top of that to make sure I have the best ground posable. I figured if I have a ground to the body, frame, and engine, the electircity will take whichever one is best. Not sure if the multiple 8g conections did any good but it made me feel better. You might also consider a sloid brass gold plated terminal. They have zero corosion and you can get them for $15 on ebay.

I dyno tested a very expensive set of grounding wires on a 2001 Tacoma SRunner.

I did three runs without, three runs with. The results was NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL.

That's just called marketing.....sadly there isn't enough enforcement on false claims like that.
Everyone just wants to make a buck, "there's a sucker born every minute" afterall. (sarcasm)

Susposedly they work wonders on import 4 bangers. Keep in mind that most hondas will gain HP by just adding stickers. Never the less, one of the most expensive kits on the market is made by Sun Industries. And they have dyno charts and stuff saying it works. Thoes kits are braided, not just strait power wires like the ebay kits. Save your guys money, and go buy engine/ battery ground straps from Napa. They are braied, are thicker in guage, and are cheaper.

I think apexi had a little unit kinda about the size of one of those MSD super ignition systems. On the downside it seems my runner seems a lot quieter and the headlights seems brighter. I think its all in my head with the placebo effect. But hey it looks nice!.

Your right about the apex units. It's simalr to the units made by sun industries. Check out http://speedhawaii.com for some info on the ground kits.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly are you grounding with these kits? Is there an instruction sheet I could see to help me understand what exactly these ground?

These grounding kits pretty much ground your wallet.

I guess people missed the dyno runs that I did on a 3.4 Supercharged SRunner that showed NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL. Dispite that the momentum is building up speed to spend a lot of money on wires with the illusion that there will be a magic performance gain.

If you have something wrong with the grounding wires on your truck and you replace those wires with good wires then there will be a benifit, but if there is nothing wrong with your wires and you put on more expensive wires then you will get NOTHING. The same thing can be accomplished by replacing bad stock wires with good stock wires. Just put an Ohm meter on your wires and if any show high resistance replace them.

I have a question for the wiring experts or those with experience (Gadget?):

I noticed during an oil change this weekend that one of the grounds (ALT to engine) is right under the oil filter. Mine was understandably caked with oil and grime. So, I popped off the bolt and cleaned off all the gunk from the wire, loop connector, and bolt. Having limited understanding of electricity and how it works, could I have restored any "power" by doing this? (It was pretty bad)

Not unless the oil and grime was limiting metal to metal contact.
This is why the salt on the roads causes so many electrical problems with cars.
