Greasable Shackles...etc...

I have greasable shackles and drivelines...etc... pretty much anything that moves. I have a few questions about them...

1. How do you know how much grease to add? I've heard adding too much can hurt them.

2. How often do you need to add grease?

3. Is adding too much grease going to hurt something? in drivelines or shackles?

Bump.

I'm curious about this myself.

On my driveshafts and joints, I pump in new grease until i start seeing the old grease leaking/oozing out from the joint.

On my front suspension parts, I just put 4-5 pumps in and make sure the boots surrounding the joins feel fairly stiff.

I personally lube everything each oil change. Just a quick pump of the handle to each of the grease fittings, and a shot of silicone to the various rubber bushings.

Overgreasing is an issue for things like wheel bearings, not shackles and ball joints. On the latter, it's just an issue of mess. On wheel bearings, you can overheat and destroy the bearings.

I wouldn't worry about over-greasing suspension components. Just shoot grease in until some starts to seep out then wipe off the excess.
