The problem is the terminal position. Even if its mounted upright, the + and - cables will not reach. If you spin it around, they still wont reach because now the + and - posts are on the "wrong side."

That is why I flipped mine on its side. I used the stock hold down, with just a bit of modifying, and its holding tight.

BTW, I was told we needed the Orange Top for our trucks...eg. the posts are reversed.
Not that I'm an expert or actually have one of these fine batteries, but I've read (somewhere in here) that they stopped making orange tops and just gave it a red top with a different number.

Using the spacer on top of the battery sounds like an excellent idea, by the way
