Got my Downey rear lift kit installed.... (2nd Gen)
Hey Guys I got my Downey 1 1/2" rear lift kit fitted at the weekend and got round to taking some pictures today, so I thought I'd share them with you guys...
I really like how my truck sits now being a little higher at the back and the longer sway bar links and pan hard rod drop bracket has helped line everything up well at the rear.
Overall I am really pleased with this setup and would recommend it to anyone who wants just a little more lift at the back.
Well next on my list is a 2" Body lift which I got coming in the new year and after that its gonna have to be some 33" MT's Yeehaw

Looks very nice Luke.
CB & I have been yakking about getting the panhard bracket, but Downey doesn't want to break up their 1.5" extra lift kit like you put on.
I don't really need the extra lift you have back there with 31" tires right now, but my panhard bar is at an angle.

He has in the pic here the same drop down bracket.

Getting the bracket would put my panhard back to a flat position again.
Check with Roger Brown for your body lift.
A 1" would require no mods, but a 2" one might such as extending your shifters.

I've got a question. What's a panhard? Sorry, but I'm trying to learn here.
I wouldn't mind getting a 1.5 inch lift sometime. Would be cool.
Well, thanks. Have fun.

Hey guys that bracket looks like it would be really simple to fab up yourself or have a metal shop do it for you.
Luke looks good. Looks like you have gobs of clearance on the rear end now. Have you flexed it all yet?

The panhard bar keeps your axle aligned left/right.
If the bar gets to exteme angled, it can push your tires out one side further.

Oh, ok thanks. I thought that was what it might have been. I had always though it was called a sway bar. Or is a sway bar up front?
Luke--Great looking ride you got there. Hope to get my Runner looking descent soon.
Have fun.

Here is a pic of sway bars from PP and what is said about them: "Installing thicker, stronger Performance Products bars in place of the narrow OEM bars will increase resistance to rolling in corners, keeping your truck flatter on the road and holding the tire contact patches in proper alignment for maximum grip." You have one up front and one in the back.

Thanks for explaining the sway bar and panhard thing to me. I had never noticed that I had both a panhard and a sway bar out back. Learn something everyday!
Well, have fun.

Luke, It looks great.
I have been looking in my Downey catalogue (very dangerous) & can not find a 1 1/2" rear lift kit. What was the p/n? That would be perfect for me & still allow me to fit in the garage I believe. Did the kit also include 1 1/2" longer sway bar links.
Another question. I have the OME suspension on my '95. Would the shocks be ok extending them 1 1/2"?
Thanks

Sorry cant give you a part number as I threw the box away some weeks back
The kit came with 3" longer links as this kit is supposed to be fitted to Downeys coils (1 1/2" longer) totalling 3". Also I think you would be ok using this setup with your OME kit as my coils were not from Downey and they still fitted perfectly. And finally Im not too sure about your shocks. When I ordered mine I asked for 1" longer than stock due to the longer coils I am running, and since fitting the downey spacers I have not needed to fit longer shocks as they are ok.Hope this helps some, anymore ???'s then shoot me an email to ribz1@ntlworld.com and Ill do my best to answer.
