Gen3 HP

is 200 HP easily attainable on a 3.4 litre Gen 3 runner? example: exhaust, filters etc, perhaps some simple mods. Anyone ever dynoed their rigs after they preformed mods?

They have 190 stock. Simple intake mods plus decent exhaust will put you over 200hp.

My mistake. I think I only thought it was 190 so I could be MORE bitter about my 3.0 and it's anemic 150hp...or is that 15.0?

183hp to 190hp?

If the 4runner is advertised to be 183hp and the tacoma 190hp, what is the difference between the engines? Is there something that could be interchangeable to give the runner the extra 7hp? Has anyone out there compared the two engines directly to see if there really is a difference? Come to think of it though I remember taco guys complaining that the runners get better fuel economy, maybe this is why. But I am still curious as to the differences.

Remember the stock hp and tq #'s are to the crank not the tires. To break 200 hp to the tires your going to need the TRD supercharger, headers, exhaust, and air filter.

I have compared the 2 and the only difference I have found is that the stock intake tube on the 4Runner (the one in the fender) is much more restrictive than that of the Taco. Not sure if that accounts for it or not, but if it does, I would think the deckplate mod that it seems most of you have done would make it a mute point...

This is debatable, and needs to be verified, but the 7HP difference is allegedly from the fuel and timing maps, and possibly injector size. I dont know if I agree with that. Let me get ahold of my friend at Toyota and see if he can find out.

The intake design (snorkel) would not be the reason for the HP difference (I have had both engines and removed both snorkels) there was still a severe 90 degree bend in both.
