Finished!

So after having to order more bulbs and wait. I finally finished the LED swap... the good thing about ordering the wrong LED's? I was actually able to use #194 5-led lights. Put one under each dash side and each seat, PRESTO! COURTESY LIGHTS!

So I read this post and decided I wanted to do the LEDS again in my 4runner. I had the LEDS before but I took it out because I've always hated the green clock not matching everything else. I was bored to day and found a solution. Its so stupid and I wonder why I didn't do this before. I took a bottle of Kaboom and cut a piece of it to fit between the plastic cover of the clock and the display. I just needed it to be a purple tint I just happen to have that bottle that was the right color. Here are some before and after pixs.

Awesome solution!!

Are you on hybridz.org by any chance? haven't been there in a couple months but it's a great Datsun forum - lots of info on swaps, hence the name

I'll ask it again since folks are watching this thread....what do us 1st gen 4runner guys need to get to do this mod in terms of bulbs....seems everyone posting here is doing it on second and third gen 4runners and we're out in the cold....

A/C lights

I have already changed out my guage cluster with blue LED's and now i need to change the A/C lights. I haven't tested an LED in the A/C guage cluster yet because I noticed that on the back of my plastic guage cover there are orange "filter paper" spots that cause it to illumintate the stock orange. I have a 2004 Tacoma 4D TRD if that makes a difference, I tried peeling off the orange "filter paper" but it didn't work and i ended up scratching off the orange but then i found out that i scratched all the way through the black cover. Anybody have any ideas? I think I might have to buy a new A/C cover anyway but I don't want to spend a ton of money to go back to square one.

Don't feel bad, i did the exact same thing the other day. I ended up finding a new one cheap on ebay. I didn't need to scratch it off, but while i was checking to see where the bulb is placed, i noticed mine was covered with green paint. tried the same thing and went right over the black too.

I finally got my whole gauge cluster and other lights set up. I used the 5 way #24 leds on autolumination.com listed under the 74 listing. Got a nice bright white led gauge and used some masking tape just obove the top of the leds to disperse the light a little bit. It def helps a ton with the hot spots. It's not perfect like stock, but it's about as close as you're gonna get with what we have to work with. I just ordered the rest of my blue leds for the ECT & rear window controls to match up with the rest of the controls and the double din 6 disc. So after i get those in and use the whole "kaboom" trick with the clock, i'll post some pics. Thanks for all the help everyone!
