If Toyota made the same gas cap holder as Honda does in the mod below, it would solve all our problems.

Or I could get creative and make something like that, but I'm not creative.

Well, buy the Honda part, do what that guy did and cut off the tabs, and stick it to the inside of your cap and your problem is solved...

the point is the gas cap holder has got to fit your gas cap. I am not sure if these thingies are generic, but this cap holder seems specific to certain models of Honda.

does your check engine light come on when you go far enough without the gas cap? My wife let her Taco gas cap in the bed once for a day and the check engine light sensed a pressure problem and popped on. took me a couple hours to figure that out. I was about to have her take it to the dealer until I happened to be looking in the bed and realized the problem.

That has happened to me, although the gas cap was on but not tight apparently. I had the CE light as well as VSC OFF and VSC TRAC lights. Had the code read at AutoZone and the guy told me the problem was most common when the gas cap wasn't tight. Had them reset it and it came on again. I disconnected the battery to reset the ECU and it hasn't been on since. *knock on wood*
