Does anyone of you guys have 'em on your 2nd gen.??? How are they???

Stay away, they didn't last 2 months before they started leaking oil. I just pulled monroe's reflex shocks out and put on some Emu shocks on.

I've seen some posts for explorer pro comp shocks. They go for $30-35.

But a lot of members go for the Bilstein, OME and Edelbrock. $60-80

 

I've had mine on for about a year or so and hate them. They ride HARD. I'll replace them with Bil's, Ome's or Edelbrocks eventually.

 

Ok, thanx. I'm looking for a comfortable & smooth ride. What would you advice???? (the rig does NOT go offroad).

If your 2nd gen has the normal "butt-sag" the consensus seems to be to go with the OME springs and shocks which come as a package. Those who have them say they ride real comfortable. If you just want to buy a new set of shocks, the Edelbrock seem to receive lots of praise, although it seems a few owners have had to replace them fairly early.

 

I don't have the suggy back on my rig. And edelbrocks seem too expensive for my budget right now. Are there cheaper shox that provide comfortable and smooth ride?

 

With shocks, you generally get what you pay for. If you want a smooth ride, the Edelbrocks are probably your best bet for that truck. OME wouldn't be a bad choice either, I would imagine.

I ran those shocks on my rig for awhile shortly after buying it.
They were Mountain Ryders from Les Schwab tires, same shocks, just rebadged.

They did not control sway at all in high winds.
Replaced with Edelbrocks back in October of '99, and am very happy.

 

What's the best and the cheapest place to buy edelbrocks??? Does it make any difference if my rig is 2WD?

 

It doesn't make any difference, 2 or 4wd. Shocks dampen the motion of the wheels/chassis (we could debate that one alone for a couple of weeks). Try shockwarehouse.com. I just checked and they list them for about $70 apiece. You might email them to confirm that they will work on your 2wd.

 

Here, check out this page. They don't have the Edelbrocks, but they do carry ProComp and a lot of people like them, AND they're cheap.

Asking for a car like ride for your truck on these boards isn't really a great question, lesha. I hate to sound like I don't care, because that's not the case. But you own a truck lesha, as do the rest of us, and getting it to ride like a car isn't something most of us who frequent these boards are interested in doing. So, we haven't researched how to do that and can only comment on what works for our trucks when used as such.
