My FSM doesn't even have a diagram of whats supposed to be where.

Basically the clock doesnt work, no power to the factory radio wires ( constant and accessory, and no power to the cig lighter.

All the fuses are okay, but I do not know which is what and where there should be blank spots and where there shouldnt be.

The FSM give the impression that the Radio and Cig are on the same fuse, but the Clock has its own. The haynes seems to say that its all the same tied into the ignition fuse.

 

did you check fuses under hood?more than likely gonna be the ignition switch.make sure no fuses are missing.

 

Yeah I checked the ones under the hood..

If it was the ignition switch wouldnt that cause all off the ignition related stuff not work?/

I also dont know if any are missing because I cant tell if they are supposed to be or not... I suppose i could just stick a new fuse if every slot and see if anything happens, but it dosent seem like a good idea. - electrical stuff scares me, I have nightmares of my trucks and cars catching fire because I did something stupid.

Should be the cig and clock switched source on the cig fuse, the clock constant on the dome lt. fuse, the radio's switched source is the radio fuse and it gets its constant power from the dome light fuse. (don't ask me why...)

The cig lighter and clock share a ground, the radio has a different ground.

Now checking the switched and the constants against a known good ground I get nothing on the clock( couldnt check constant), cig, and radio. However the Dome light works fine.


I am trying to draw this out, but it dosent really make sence.

 

dont mean to hijack, but you seem to know your toyota eletricals. i got this one for you. everything in my radio harness works EXCEPT for the constant power. blue w/green. any idea why? BTW if you check or search for my topics, i posted a topic with a fuse diagram.

 

I am sure you traced that wire back right? could just be pinched off somewhere or some p/o cut it off unknowingly.

If you haven't owned it from new, lots of things can happen over the years....

Another offering for you - this was a rule I used for many years as an RV tech. When you feel you've spent way too much time chasing down a circuit, it may be time to simply run a new one. Nothing wrong with running a new fused circuit in there and making it work.

 

i have a similar problem on my 98 tacoma. My cig/power outlets, clock, and power mirrors, dont work. Ive checked EVERY fuse, my radio works fine and ive pretty much gave up fixing it myself. May be time to take it to the dealership to see if they can figure it out.

 

This might sound a little silly, but are you having problems with your back-up lights also?

But i did figure it out, the metal tabs that hold the fuses in where bent up and not making a good connection. Bent them back and it works fine.
