hey chadbob did it smell like a box of burning matches?..have you ever lit some stick matches?..cause i have that burning smell also when im overloaded, meaning having full load of people (5) thats the only time i smell that burning smelly stuff..seriously, smells like a box of lit matches..i too worry what it is..i dont want my 4runner catch on fire with family on board...so please i would like to know what this problem is...

 

well, if you read this thread. That was the first time that i smelled it in a while. Any i know it was my transmission overheating. I am going to order a transmission cooler, because i think that might be the smell. My neighbor and someone in this thread mentioned the torc convertor causing it, because its similar to a clutch. If anyone knows im wrong, feel free to tell me so I know.

i have that same sorta problem. when i am off-roading with my rig, and either do something like u did, or do a donut or something, i will get a burning sorta smell in the cab but u can't smell it anywhere else. i have no clue what it is, but when i smell it, it freaks me out sometimes.
