ok i went to jiffy lube to get my oil changed and have them check it out since I hit the 60,000 mark not too long ago. The guy said to get my fuel injector and rear diff. done, which isnt too much $. Then he started telling me how it would increase my horsepower and things like that. Wondering if you guys had any input on this.

Personally, Jiffy Lube and all like it suck.

To do their "Fuel System Cleaning Service" yourself :
1. Search for MAF/Throttle body cleaning, follow instructions.

2. Buy Techron injector cleaner, follow instructions

3. Give me (And Bob_SR5) a dollar

4. Go to step 3


To change your Rear Diff:
1. Buy gear lube, See you manual for weights 75-90 works fine,

2. Change Fluid

3. Give me a dollar

4. Go to step 3


In my opinion, when you go to placed like this for service you get screwed, and they dont use lube.

 

Don't use jiffy spooge or anything like it!!!

Do it yourself and you'll know it was done right.

Well, I'm not that good at working with a car, thats why I use Jiffy Lube. Is it going to hurt anything to let them do it?

 

Dude there are all kinds of morons out there. They are everywhere even at Jiffy Spooge. Not going to let them touch my "Huney". Oil change is about as easy as taking a dump. Check the maintance section in this forum for instructions.

The only problem with doing your own oil change is that the oil filter is hard to get to. I do it mself during the warmer months, but in the winter I take it to a shop. Everything else is easy. Any easier ways to get to the oil filter? I have a 98 4Runner 3.4L. Thanks.

 

Really? I don't have any trouble getting out my filter. You gotta go through the driver side wheel well. Checkout the tech writeup section in this forum for detailed instructions on how to do it. Really, its easy as taking a dump.

 

If you're having problems with the filter (most do) there are relocation kits available.

$15-$18 to clean the intake, mass air flow sensor, and injectors. Another ~$15 will get some good Mobil 1 Gear Lube in the rear differential. If you have a 4WD, do the transfer case and front differential as well. There's also a write-up in the tech section on how to FLUSH your transmission yourself - something that most dealers charge $150+ for.
