Fuel gauge whacky

To all, I have a 2000 SR5 4Runner. lately after I fill up, (I always tighten the fuel cap til it clicks.) I get out on the road and with in a few miles/15 minutes the gas gauge will slowly drop to a 1/2 or 1/4 tank. Sometimes in the morning after a fill up the fuel light will be on and then within 15 minutes or so the gauge will go back to the top. Any ideas what might be causing this? As always thanks for the help. EDH

There is a TSB on fuel gauges which includes the 2000 but your problem doesn't sound typical of the TSB content. I don't have the link handy but try a search on this forum. Otherwise, I'd say your fuel sender is FUBR.
