Fuel Gauge

Is there a way to calibrate it, my gauge goes way over full(99 4runner ltd) and fuel light comes on just under quater tank. Could I pul the needle off and put it down a notch.

FSM docs don't really show anything about calibrating the gauge, but I'll post the docs in case some of the information about testing/inspection can help you.

Lightbulb Check out these TSB's.

Maybe 1/2 way down the page : IH8Mud Linky

TSB EL010-00 Fuel gauge inaccuracy
TSB EL010-99 Fuel gauge recalibration procedure (text description of the procedure in the .pdf file as I couldn't find the original)

My fuel gauge seems to come off full fast - looks like this was only covered during the warranty period, so mine is going to stay that way ...

HTH !

99 4runners had a TSB on fuel gauge incorrect in 1999

the fix was a new cluster...got mine at 19,000 miles
this was way back in 2000
