Fuel In Airfilter

So I an new to working or cars and am doing my best but I have a fuel leak that goes into my airfilter. It is a 1999 with a 3.4 v6. I noticed a strong smell of fuel a couple of days ago but couldn't see anything. I found it today when I was looking at it with a friend and opened the air filter to find that it had fuel in it and was leaking fuel from the hose somewhere. I don't know what to look for now as I am looking at the throttle body. Where do I go from here?

I don't know if I have a cold start injector, but if I do, could that be the problem. And the check engine light doesn't come on.

No cold start injector on those. They just squirt the regular injectors a little extra on cold start. Is it coming back through the little breather hose that runs back to the air filter housing? Could be your EVAP system (valves and/or charcoal canister). If it is from there, at least you know where to start looking next..

Sounds like someone filled there gas tank a bit too much and saturated the evap.... although i would have thought it would have a check engine light. Course it may have a history evap code.... Check oil. Does it have any driveablity issuses? Sure its gas? Not unless the intectors are turning on at the wrong times and or too soon...... I'd clean it up and drive it unless it keeps doing it. Take you intake hose off and see if its all the way up in the throttle body, And intake....

Thanks, ya I thought it might be the evap system but I can't really tell where it is coming from because it won't start when I have the intake hose off, and it started to happen about at a half of tank so I don't think it was because I filled it too much and I usually fill it pretty full and haven't had this problem since. The only driving issue I have is when it has warmed up it takes a little to start. I think its just because the air is too rich going in from the gas in the filter. I will check the evap system. How could I check to see if it is too full? And what do I do if it is?

When your filling your truck up with gas stop filling as soon as the nozzle clicks "once"

So I found out that it is most likely that I have a bad fuel pressure regulator and it wasn't regulating my fuel so it was pushing out way to much for my engine. I got one and am going to replace it to see if that helps.

Well, let us know how that goes...I would be very surprised - I once had an injector fail open and spray fuel continuously into the engine. I had extreme misfiring, raw fuel spewing out my exhaust and hydrolocking of that cylinder, but no fuel in my airfilter housing...
