I tried to make the dealership fix them, but they wouldn't. I told them it was a safety system that was defective and they were liable, but they said I'd have to pay. Oh well, at least I tried...

The biggest help is cleaning the belt. I ended up swapping out my old belts for a used set that had more adjustment room on the take-up spring. Before installing, I laid the belt on on the sidewalk and sprayed it down with upholstery cleaner and scrubbed both sides well. Then rinsed with a garden hose and let dry. A shot of Scotchguard spray helps the belt slide over the seatbelt hardware.
