Front Brake Conversion

How bout it guys

I have been seeing and reading about guys putting Tundra front brakes on their 3rd gen 4runners. My front brakes are crap right now and I am going in for new tires in the morning. Are the Tundra rotors & calipers etc. simply interchangeable?

Thank you in advance!

TC

Are the calipers reusable or do they have to be replaced with Tundra calipers?

Go with the W231 Tundra calipers vs the 199 since they are a little bigger and you will need the tundra rotors and pads.

Mine came off of a 06.

Do the W231 Calipers use the 5.3" pads?

I did the conversion on my 98 here is the write-up and I believe I did updates on them, including replacing both rotors and pads with those hybrid pads. I used the 199mm as mine came off a 2001 Tundra, but which ever way you go it will make a serious difference and you will be glad you did. If you note in my write-up the only modification I had to do was to the dust shields and that was only filing away a very small amount, 10 minutes per wheel max. Give a look/read

Don't forget to make sure the calipers fit inside your rim, 96-97 rims won't work with Tundra calipers.

Even the 199mm won't fit on 97 rims? If they are 16" rims?

Suggestion for a 92? I know I've got to do the rear drum conversion at some point but will the Tundra front brake parts work on a 92? Running 2016 17" rims and tires so I'll have room.

I am still waiting to see some real numbers !!!

If I am really bored one day I will sit down and crunch the numbers.

Sure WOW it makes a big difference well replacing worn out brakes with new brake parts will make a difference.

Two owners later it gets real interesting when the brake parts you ordered by the year and model don`t fit

I find my truck stops just fine with well maintained brakes .

I like my Drum brakes just fine.
