What size tires did you end up getting? Can you take a picture of the space between your tire and upper control arm?

Hey Mastacox, I am running 275/70/17 BFG AT's and still have at least 3/8" between the UCA, no wheel spacers

I've been following this thread for a bit now, any thoughts on running 255/75-17 on the FJ wheels?

Here is mine on FJ steelies with 255/75/17 bfg muds. This is before the lift. The only rub I would get was coming into a driveway every once in a while. Im thinking of swapping to different FJ wheels with 285s now that I have SS lift.

Im debating whether to go 285 or 255. But if I go 285 I'll need to buy some sort of spacer. Plus the GY silent armors are half the price in the 255...decisions, decisions...

I have been able to find a bunch of very low miles bfg mud takeoffs from jeep rubicons for cheap. There are other jeep tires 255/75/17 that you can get as takeoffs pretty cheap.

I got a set of FJ alloys, I think I'd be more comfortable going the non-spacer route with 255's. Plus the price helps. Thanks for the pics flashooter!

The 275's are AWESOME, but it did make the truck a little less peppy cause of the gearing. But, for those of you guys that are not big enough for 285's, the 275's are a very good substitute.

285/70/17 = 32.8"
275/70/17 = 32.2"
Stock 265/70/16 = 30.7"

Rock on!!
That wheel/tire combo looks really good on your runner.

Hey Doug I just put a set of some 255/75/17 BFG Muds on my runner and I love them! They are taller than the 265s but don't feel as heavy plus they just look so much better. Here is a cell phone pic but I will get a better one tomorrow. I picked up 5 of them brand new for $400, cant beat that! Post up some pics of your rig with the new wheels

I'd consider trading my LC wheels for these!

Thanks Justin! I'm definitley gonna go with the 255's. I just gotta wait for my tax returns to get back! I got great life outta my BFG all terrains so its been a while since I've had to buy tires... I'll def post up some pics as soon as I can. Where did you get that deal on those tires? The price difference is crazy between the 255s and the 285s...

I have a chance to buy THESE wheels for a really good price and need to know if they'll fit a 3rd gen with 255/85's or 285/75's with no spacers

these wheels..

I dont have any back spacing numbers, and I'm no expert but, there are guys running these off of the 2009 FJs so I would guess that the TRD wheels would work also. I think they are 16s instead of 17s though.Fj cruiser wheels on 3rd gen 4runner-5757-042-wheel-profile-480.jpg

I would think with 255s would be ok, but from what Ive read on here, the 285s would need spacers.

I found my tires on craigslist. They are always on there cause the guys with the rubicons always take them off and sell them cheap. I really wish they made a all terrian in the size but I am kinda of enjoying have muds

I know the the 255s will fit cause I am running a 255/75/17 which is a 32x10.50x17 and they do not rub at all. You will need spacers for 285s

Yeah they look pretty awesome, especially when you get rid of the gay tires Toyota put on FJs from the factory.

I can't find any backspacing info on the newer 16" FJ wheels (2007-2010?) either, Anybody?

FJ wheels and 4runner wheels are all going to be either 15 or 30 mm back spacing which is about a .35" difference so not much. Most of the stock wheel specs are available on the TRD site.
