FIPK installed!
WIth the help (90%) of member 3.4v6 I now have a K&N FIPK installed. Took us about 1&1/2 hour to do. Ive got to say it takes some work to install, and the directions are helpful, but if they had more pictures to go by it could be done quicker. THere is so much more room now in that part of engine bay....Problem is..that I have to call the company I bought it from www.accessconnect.com tell them I didnt receive my O.E. carb exemption sticker. NOt to mention a few screws missing from set-up. Well I am very pleased with the significant boost it now brings to my 3.0 (slow) 91 4runner and it sounds really good too, hehe. Problem is that I seem to mash on the pedal more to hear and feel the umphhhh! it now gives.. I bought the FIPK for 187.70 cheapest place I could find.. They sell other aftermarket products as well at reasonable prices. Will post pics of installed intake soon.
THANKS AGAIN 3.4v6 for your help.
NOW NEXT MOD.....FREE FLOW CAT.........

I've been reading around and more than a few people have said you actually lose power with one of these setups.
Is there any validity in these claims? I'd like to get one for my 02Runner but not if it's going to make it even slower than it already is.
Thanks!
Alan

Bigtop people have claimed that on the 3.4 you may lose some power. I would do the Deckplate mod and the ISR mod both of which have write ups in the tech section.... actually to be honest if I had a 3.4 which someday I will in my 2nd Gen I would go straight to the top and supercharge that bad boy!

I installed it on my 3.4 and it definately FEELS faster. If it is slower, at least the engine doesn't bog down at low speeds anymore. I got mine for $150 shipped brand new off ebay.

What can i expect to pay for a supercharger? I'd like to use a roots type blower for my Runner. Any suggestions?

PICs of installation. Notice the ground wire kit? (top of pic).........Well ISR mod seemed a little too advanced for me. Nevertheless I am happy with the FIPK. Is THere a supercharger for 3.0 I didnt think there was..but if so.....PLEASE let me know...

Peeps are correct about the FIPK in the 3.4L - it lost 1hp on the dyno - on this engine it makes a BIG difference though. If you couple the ISR mod with the cone filter, you have a cheaper FIPK, but I like mine.
(The reason I KNOW it helped is due to an increase in top end speed)

so you're saying that the ISR mod with a drop in K&N filter is basically as good of an improvement as the FIPK for a 3.0? I don't see why anyone would pay for the FIPK if thats the case. i really don't know thats why i'm tryin to figure this out because i'm trying to decide whether i want to drop almost $200 for the FIPK or if this $20 ISR mod will give me the same results

HIGH FLOW CAT vs. FREE FLOW CAT
BUmpin Yota,
Just wondering if there is a difference between High Flow CAt and Free Flow Cat. I am planning on buying a Free Flow Cat on Perf. Products for $119. I know you have a High Flow Cat, where did you purchase and how much? Thanks.
Jonah
P.S. I am getting addicted to mods. hehe
