Factory Recall on Fuel Tank
#1
I read in one of these threads that Toyota was recalling a ball joint in the suspenion of my '02 Tacoma and when the dealership ran my VIN, it turned out that I also needed to have some sort of protection added to my fuel tank, as well as having my fuel line replaced. I haven't been able to find any news articles that say what years this recall applies too, but I wanted to return the favor to everyone who reads these forums. A quick call to a dealership with your VIN number should quickly determine whether or not you need to have this done and it didn't take long to complete.

Is yours a Double Cab? I seem to recall there being a recall-worthy issue with fuel line(s) in DC's a few years ago. They weren't faulty per se, but they were (easily?) severed in an impact and posed a fire hazard. As I recall the recall affected 1 or 2 years' DC models (but only DC models...).

Yes it is. I bought it used, so I'm guessing that the previous owner never had to take it in to the shop for anything or never bothered doing the maintenance so that's why it was never done.
