exhaust question
while driving down 1-5 the other day i develped an exhaust leak. i pulled over and noticed one of my manifild bolts was gone. now the manifold is warped. i was wondering what company makes a complete exhaust kit for the truck. it is a 93 standard cab 5 spd with the 22re.
if someone can tell me the price of a header, and the price for the whole setup. thanks

you're gonna get the "SEARCH" directive ... lots of header info on this board
but downey off-road makes headers ... so do a few other vendors.

the LCE headers are sweet and they carry 50 state smog legal certification... my friend has them on his 85 22re
your bolt was was just missing? you better check that there is still threads left in the head, they are studs, and threaded into the head itself, not bolts......
i have to fix my truck with helicoils because my 2 studs nearest the firewall on my exhuast are both stripped out....

i just pulled off the heat shield and found 3 more missing bolts. and the rest were loose. why after 165,000 miles would they come loose. bought the truck with 80,000 miles on it almost 6 years ago and to my knowlege that thing has never been off.

its a very common problem with the 22r and re ... they back out after awhile, due to heat, flexing, etc..... tightn them up, i check mine a lot..... they sometimes get too hot and hte head deforms areound the studs and the studs no longer can stay threaded..... the head is alloy and the studs are steel...

I'd run with kyle-22r's suggestion of the use of a plate washer followed by that of a lock/compression washer and then the nut itself.
That or simply double up the nuts on the studs, using a secondary nut as a lock, much the way they use two (2) nuts on the upper shock pinions.
