Exhaust prefrances?
Ok as I stated in my rebuild thread My '91 Yota v6 is going to the exhaust shop tomoorw and I would like some input as to what everyone runs and prefers for their exhaust's. I've been looking at either a Dynamax or Flowmaster muffler, any input? Should my exhaust exit to the side behind the tire in a stock local or straight out the back? Maybe something a little different, I'm open to ideas.
I already searched on here and found positive and negative about bout manufacturers, arguments about pipe sizing, and the pro's and con's of the exit local. Only problem is that was all in the past and by chance and now I'm actually taking her down to the shop and would appreciate some input.

If you want the best flow, don't get flow master. Sounds weird I know, but flows are chambered mufflers and they don't flow worth a poop. Get a straight through if you want best flow.

I love my Magnaflow mufler. It sounds great and has almost no restriction. It's just a pipe with holes in it that is surouded by stufing. I don't underdstand how it could be any quieter than no mufler at all but it is. I have 2" pipe on mine but I think you would be best off with 2 1/4".

flowmaster and magnaflow are nice but i have an IMCO elite muffler and it sounds great and its the most flow out of a muffler without being a straight pipe.

At the shop now
Well I just got back from dropping her off at the exhaust shop. I'll let you know what I went with after I decided. Right now they're doing an estimate for everything.

Don't get a glasspack. I was a cheapo and got one when I did my exhaust. I liked it at first, but now I guess some of the packing has burned out and I hate it....sounds too ricey, and I have a V6.

Ok
I went with the 2 1/4" piping. This matched up with the diameter of the headers and also the inlet/outlet's on both the cat and muffler. I also decided to use the magnaflow muffler. The shop manager talked me into it as did all the positive comments in this thread and on here in general. They said that they may even have it finished later this afternoon.

i have a magnaflow 18" and love it.. not too loud at all. if you want something a little louder, go with the magnaflow 14"

She's back
I'll post pics later tonight as long as I don't get stuck at work. The system included the custom Y-pipe, connected behind the transmission, New Cat (Magnaflow CA emissions legal, creating an O2 sensor "port", new Magnaflow muffler 14", and 2 1/4" piping throuhjout. I went with the 2 1/4" since this was the size of the header pipes exit. My Cat, muffler, everything is 2 1/4" hopefully eliminating any restrictions from jumping from one size to another.
Sandcrawler: I already had the headers, I put those on myself. I chose the Downey Ceramic headers. I picked them up for $345 from Baja Concepts . The total exhaust just ran me $550. Pretty steep but this shop does great work, faboulous customer service, and they've never treated me or any of my recommendations wrong, as long as they new they were paing a premium.
As for the big Question. How does she run? Freakin" Sweet man. She's a 4WD truck, not a luxury sports car. She's not taking any one off the line (then again I'm not trying nor do I recommend or plan to try this). She is shifting great, lot's more torque and an unquestionable gain in Horse Power. The sound is clean and smooth. The magnaflow was a great choice, THANKS EVERYONE for you comments and suggestions.

After listening to the clips here, I really like the sound of the Vortex. Can anyone using one comment on performance/likes&dislikes/wish I hadn't,glad I did?
