hey i've got a 87' 4wd with carb 22r. i'm in the process of rebuilding and i've notice on my center cam journal it has some pitting and grooves. question is is there any way to build this back to factory spec? if so how? also i've has some surface rust in spots on my crank anyone recommend using superfine steel wool to repolish? or is there something better?

I would use some 600 wet/dry paper on the crank rust spots before assembly

Sorry I meant pitting and scratches on the center bearing for the cam on the head. I'm going buy new cam which would you refer for rode driving and some mudding on occasions with 34x9.5x15 superswampers? Do you think machine shop could alum. weld the center of the head and the cap then install all 3 caps and line bore them to match new cam?

i think the machine shop can line bore them. i think there's also cam bearing inserts(saw them on autozone's website?) but i'm not sure how those work because the cam rides directly on the head!
you'll probably want an RV cam like an engnbldr 261C

No cam bearing cam sits directly on head from factory on this year model I know for sure not sure on others. Is line boring and putting bearing in an option or would i just come out cheaper buying new head? What's difference in stock and a 261c? torque or power?
