Hello Yotatech , I have a 98 Runner 3.4L, 194,xxx miles. I had a check engine light on, noticed loss of power at 40-50mph under load, got the codes pulled, P0302 & P0303. It was drivable so I left it until I had time to check things out. Then it started idling pretty rough. I assumed cylinder 2&3 were misfiring. So I decided to change out the fuel injectors on cylinder 2&3. Gambled and ruled out bad coils because cyl 2&3 are on two different coils and what are the odds of two of the coils going bad, although possible.

After I put everything back together, it fired up fine. Idle was a little high. Let it run for a couple minutes. Turned off engine. Then I wanted to clear the check engine light so I pulled the negative battery cable, which i prob should have done before I changed the injectors initially. Started up, the engine turned over then stalled out after 2 seconds. Same thing after numerous times. Now the battery is dead from cranking so much, so been having to jump it.

So I pulled everything apart again. A little fuel spilled out so i assume the fuel rails are getting gas. I made sure the injectors sat right. Tested the resistance of the injectors, all at 13.5 and above. . Put it back together again. Same thing. Started, revved the gas, but eventually died.

Don't know what else could be wrong. Vacuum leak? Air in the lines? Haven't checked the plugs and wires (both NGK)but should be good, they were changed out about a year and a half ago about 15,000 miles on them. Seems this only happened after I pulled the neg battery cable. Something with the ECU maybe?

Searched the forums and googled. Seems to be a common problem when they change injectors but haven't found any solutions.
