elocker engages only

Went on a trip the past weekend, engaged the E-locker, no problem (This is in my wife's 2001 Tacoma dbl cab). Tried to disengage it and it would not. Finally had to removed the new actuator (previously replaced by Toyota when we bought the truck) and manually disengage the e-locker. Now, it won't engage, just flashes. BTW, I did the grey wire mod. Could the conrol box be bad? I have a line on another one that I am going to swap out to verify. Any other ideas??? I swapped out the fr/rr diffs with a set of 4.30 diff's from a 99 4runner. Found out the front diff does not engage easily, think previous owner never had it in 4wd, after a couple of shifts from 2wd to 4wd, it will engage. If this makes any difference.
More info, after swapping diffs, the ABS light stayed on and did not work properly, so I disconnected the plug from the ABS unit under the hood. I bled and re-bled the brakes numerous times without getting the ABS to work properly. Actually like it better without the ABS... Also, I checked the fuses under the dash, nothing blown... I removed the actuator and tried the switch again, now it does not work at all (removed, plugged in and grounded).

This is why I despise elockers.
Regular use.
Sounds like it might just need a good cleaning.

The actuator is brand new and clean. I checked it already.

I suppose it could be the control box. Maybe swap out that box with a buddies and try it to see if it works? Did the dealership not index the motor right?

It worked previously, I checked it out again after I installed the diff. gears. It engaged no problem, now it won't work at all. I am going to pull the actuator and see if the motor has issues?? What else??

Really... No one else has had this problem?? I pulled the actuator out, reset it and hit the locker button. It engaged, but will not dis-engage. I have checked this twice, so, I am leaning towards a bad wire? Swapped the control box and have the same issue, no change. What else??
