Elocker Cable Conversion

Elocker Cable Conversion
So my elocker motor fried so I didn't want to pony up the $$$$$$ to get a new or used motor, they are rare and expensive. So I went ahead and converted it to cable.
So Blair (knoxtaco) and I used a bicycle stem shifter to rotate some welded on bolts to the elocker motor shaft.
I had to cut my t-case shifter and move it over an inch or so so the shifter could clear the bicycle shifter.
We routed the cables right with the e-brake cable and dropped it down right on top of the motor.
Blair fabricated a little bolt on plate for the barrel adjusters to mount to.
Here are some pics of the conversion.

We cut up the side of the motor so we could adjust and attach the cables properly

We did it on a lift at full droop and it also has more flex in it above that.

I've seen a similar fix done except they used a vacuum driven actuator mounted on the diff. and ran vacuum lines up to the engine and used a pair of junkyard EGR valve solenoids to actuate it.

I know, and I can't slam them. The elocker won't engage if you slam them, you have to gently twist them both at the same time while turning to get them to engage. Basically the same thing you have to do with the elocker, minus flipping to levers.

Bike Stem shifter
Well wheeled it today, c-locker locked and unlocked perfectly. Great not having to get out of the truck and use ascrew driver to lock it.
Great day of wheeling, broke a cv, and saw a comanche get destroyed

why the hell did you take that approach to that particular part of the trail..from my point of view(which is obviously limited because im not there in person) it looks like you would have been better off NOT going up that embankment?????
i can just see your rig coming down on that pass. front tire and flipping....LOL
