Hi all. Im new on this board and to the toyota scene.
anyway, i found a writeup for disabling a safety mechanism invloving the push button rear diff lock. the writeup is for a 97 4runner, and by grounding out a wire at the ecu, it allows you to lock up the rears while in 2wd, 4hi, and 4lo- not just 4lo. can i use this same writeup/process on my 99 4runner?

I believe this is called the gray wire mod. If you do a search for thi it should give you the post. good luck Hal

 

for the 4runners im pretty sure its a blue/red wire

Is the ECU referred to in the write-up above the engine ECU? Or is there a separate ECU for the rear diff lock?
