electric fan on 3rd Gen, how reliable are they ?
Hi, I am trying to replace the stock mechanical fan with an electric fan so that I can squeeze as much power as possible out of the engine. However, I don't know how reliable is the electric fan. I searched the threads with no help. For those of you running electric fan on your 3rd Gen., how reliable are they ? do they tend to break easily or they should last the life of the vehicle ? the reason is I want something that is reliable. I don't want the electric fan to break down in the middle of my road trip on a hot summer day. Thank you for your input.

I would dare to say that the vast majority of cars on the road right now have electric fans.
The mechanical fan/clutch combo is probably more reliable though than an electric fan/temp sensor/source of electric power combo, especially one that is retrofitted.
