e-Locker, is it the best setup

for a rig that will primarily be used for beach driving, at times very loose, deep sand?

I need to pick up a 4th vehicle that will be left down on the gulf coast (padre island), that will be used only occasionally, and when used, to make it through pretty demanding conditions down the padre island national seashore to take the kids fishing/shelling.

My wife has a GX470, but it's too nice to trash up and down the beach and I still need something reliable. I saw a comment in another thread about the elocker coming in handy for deep snow, and thought sand applications would be very similar.

Also, did all 99-00 limited come with elocker and center diff lock?

Thanks,

Jeff

NO, not all of them came with the elocker....

YES, selectable lockers are the best option there is for off roading. You can choose fully locked or open diff

NOT ALL LIMITEDS have a locker.

I have an 00 Limited that has every factory option EXCEPT the locker for some odd reason.

And yes it is a very nice feature, but very rare to find one at all, and espically local or for a good price.

When you are looking just dont let the seller know you are looking for an elocker...they might charge more or be less willing to haggle.....

90% (my guess) of 3rd gen runner owners dont even have a clue what that button is really for

OK, fellas. The 00 Limited HAS a locker (at least indicated the by the RR diff lock button). Funny, the owner has no idea what it is for. Anyway, was curious if you had any further thoughts:

126k miles
2nd owner
Clean carfax
Silver
At 95K, water pump and T belt done (have receipts)
Rig is clean, pretty much stock with only expected wear
Originally asking 11.5k; I can pick it up for 9.5K

Will be used infrequently, but when we do use it, it'll be used hard and needs to be reliable. Will set it up with recovery gear, and bigger meats for the sand, but otherwise nothing exceptional since we won't be rock crawling.

If it has maintenance records I'd do it.

Without a doubt, grab it. I got my 00 for $9600 and it doesn't have a locker and i had to do the timing belt after i got it.

Mine also had 125k miles. So yours looks like a great deal!

If your just doing sand and not planning on rockcrawling I wouldn't worry about the locker and just do trutracs.

I get the feeling he wants to have it pretty much stock, or he would have just looked at the ARB locker.

But yes, that would work too.

just do a quick compression check to make sure the motor's fine, then buy it, and slap some bfg all terrains in a 265-75-16" and there'll be no beach u cant drive on - although youllwant to deflate the tires some - get it!!
