I recently purchased a 2001 4Runner, I did the drl mod by cutting the black with yellow stripe wire this turned off the drl's. Now when I turn the stick to turn the parking lights on they do not come on however they do come on with the headlights. Is there a way to get just the parking lights to come on after this mod? I have done several searches and have not been able to come up with this exact problem. Thanks!

 

You did not verify with the schematic before you snipped? OK to trust write-ups but need to verify.

If you share the schematic, the electrically-savvy would be able to help you- even if they do not own a 2001 model

I do not understand why people would want to disable the DRL. Too many inattentive drivers out there; I always turn my old-school headlights no matter the weather condition or time of day.

 

I hate DRL`s right there with ABS brakes.

On most vehicles the DRL`s are in the low beams hence one is unable to flash your lights during the day the difference is not enough to tell when your at least one would hope 150 ' to 200' ahead of said light in the rain.

I have always driven with my headlights on at all times since 1975 way before DRL`s

Since I drive so many vehicles far quicker to pull a fuse then do anything of a more permanent nature

That is my reason!!
