Where is everyone getting these from and how much do they run? Also Corey all you have on your 4runner is the torsion bars and the hd coil springs and shocks? And that gave you the 2"? Just wondering because I would like to do the same with mine.

I got my Downey HD coils from Central 4WD for $149.00 bucks plus $25.00 s/h. The Bilstein HD shock absorbers were bought from Autozone for $59.95 each plus tax. Coils and shocks gave the rig about 1.5 to 2 inch lift in the rear.

I just replaced my shocks, if I wanted to do this upgrade would I absolutly have to put longer shocks on?

 

per Downey's recommendation that i HAD to change my shocks, i ordered the longer Doetsch Techs. IMO, they sucked. totally blown out. i switched back to the regular length sensatracks, and the ride is really nice. i don't know what the long term effects on life are going to be; and i don't have the extended travel that i would have gotten from the longer shocks, but hey, the sensatracks are lifetime warranty, so i'm happy.

 

I installed the Downey HD coils with Edelbrock Performer IAS shocks a couple of weeks ago. I found that with the rear suspension at full extension, with the sway bar disconnected, and after having applied considerable downward force to the axle to install the coils, that the Edelbrocks were about 1" or so too short to reach the bottom shock stud.

Under real world conditions, I don't know if you could get as much articulation out of it as I did with everything disconnected. In other words, I don't think my Edelbrocks will limit articulation. I think the same would be true of the Bilsteins.

Downey Off-Road Manufacturing - Straight from the manufacturer. Just give them a call.
Xtreme Off-Road - Mike will bend over backward to help you out. I ordered from him and he had them shipped from the manufacturer. Mike is also a member of this board.

Yes, I got about 2" in the rear from the new coils, and then had to level it out up front with a T bar crank.

All in all, it's about 2" all the way around.
Stock lenght Edelbrocks, and they have not bottomed out yet while out trail riding.

Make sure you use manual hubs when cranking T bars.
ADD hubs will put a strain on your CVs when T bars have been cranked.
