Door won't open from outside

Has anyone ever run into this problem??? My passenger door won't open from the outside. I have a '96 Limited 4-runner. How easy is it to fix?

pop off the door panel and cehck it out. theres a metal rod thats held on the latch by a plastic clip. if things are intact, the latch assembly might be an issue.

My plastic clip broke last week and I fixed with a zip tie. 1001 uses. I will eventually get to the dealer and buy replacement, can't be much.

I bet its that stupid plastic clip. its allowing the bar to lengthen and not pull hard enough on the latch.

Thanks for all of the input. I will check out that tech section. I heard something rattling around this weekend when I had the window down and I think that bar is the cause.
